Paolo Puccio is a contemporary artist and sculptor with traditional flair. Often compared to Brancusi and Moore, Puccio’s style has evolved from figurative to abstract, adapting to the characteristics and beauty of each piece of stone he works with. Onyx in particular, his stone of choice, inspires him to create movement and life in what most consider to be an inanimate object. Paolo Puccio began working along side his grandfather at the age of five in his marble shop in Sicily. When his father Giuseppe immigrated to America in 1950 and opened Puccio Marble & Onyx, Inc., the ambitious young Puccio saw an opportunity to further explore his artistry. Over the years, Puccio developed his talents and embraced his natural ability to carve and sculpt stone into works of art. Now a lifetime of work and achievement later his namesake Puccio Gallery is the permanent home to artist Paolo Puccio’s collection of sketches, sculptures in marble, onyx and bronze as well as his functional furniture creations, which include a ten foot onyx extension table. “No one dares to attempt to do in stone what Puccio does, he is a master craftsman,” say interior designers across the country. Puccio is best known for his luxurious interior installations in marble, onyx, limestone and other semiprecious materials. Oprah Winfrey, Governor George Pataki and many others have called on Puccio over the years to craft his one-of-a-kind creations.
