Mr. Brainwash
Thierry Guetta, now internationally known as Mr. Brainwash, is a French filmmaker and street artist. He began documenting the lives of street artists in 1999 starting with Obey and Space Invader. After years of filming these mysterious artists, he finally received the opportunity to follow one of the most famously elusive street artists, Banksy. After several years of filming for a documentary that was never actually in the works, Banksy encouraged Guetta to try experimenting in creating his own art. Not long after his initial designs, Guetta adopted the name Mr. Brainwash for himself and soon had his first solo show in Los Angeles, “Life is Beautiful” in 2008. Mr. Brainwash’s early days as a filmmaker and his transformation from an observer to a creator were finally turned into a documentary called “Exit Through the Gift Shop” and released in 2010. Mr. Brainwash currently resides in Los Angeles with his family and is steadily producing competitive auction results and releases several limited edition prints per year.
